RSTI is a training center for medical imaging equipment. The company trains engineers on the installation, calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and other equipment. It used to teach students from paper manuals using curriculum that we have developed over the years, and wanted to transition out paper manual curriculum to online content using an LMS (Learning Management System). Before full transition, it needed to implement technology to ensure authentication and protect its intellectual property.
Minmini implemented an authentication method that ensured the student who is signed up for the course is the same individual taking the course, and that course content cannot be shared with others. The implementation is based on the solution provided by AWS in an AWS blog post. It allows users to sign up using an email, and takes a picture durign the signup process. Then, whenever the user signs in, an image from the webcam is captured and compared against the one captured during signup. This sign in mechanism is also integrated with the CMS system used for training.
The solution is currently in production.
